Punjab STI Extension & Continuation 2026-27: Vacant-Post Hiring

This STI extension notification provides that already engaged School Teaching Interns may be continued through a fresh agreement with effect from 24 August 2026 to 31 May 2027.

It also provides that the process for hiring School Teaching Interns against vacant STI posts may be initiated. This replaces the earlier report based on a Minister's public statement and no longer treats the position as a proposed extension from 1 September 2026.

The STI Joining / Relieving Report is a school-level format for recording an STI's reporting, relieving, placement, school, order, and date details. It is provided as a downloadable Word document for the relevant administrative record.

The Letter of Agreement for STIs under the STI Program, 2024 is the supplied placement-acceptance format. It sets out the offered STI placement and standard terms such as the joining period, leave, non-transferability, temporary nature of placement, and acceptance process. Use it together with the applicable current departmental instructions.

The School Education Department letter dated 25 September 2026 directs that services of already engaged STIs may be continued through fresh agreements from 24 August 2026 to 31 May 2027. It also states that fresh hiring against vacant STI slots may be initiated in line with the enclosed district-wise allocation.

The continuation applies to already engaged STIs and is to be documented through a fresh agreement. The stated continuation period starts on 24 August 2026 and ends on 31 May 2027.

The status separately allows initiation of the process to hire STIs against vacant slots. It does not state that every previously engaged STI automatically receives a placement without the required fresh agreement, or that every allocated slot is already filled.

The fresh status permits the process for hiring against vacant STI posts to be initiated. Candidates should wait for the applicable official vacancy notice, portal instructions, eligibility criteria, district or school allocation, application window, and merit process before submitting any application.

The 2024 STI Program document explains the original program framework, including local hiring and merit procedures. It should not be treated as a substitute for a current vacancy advertisement or as confirmation that every 2024 condition applies unchanged to the new hiring process.

For STIs covered by this STI extension notification, the current monthly packages remain Rs. 38,000 for Primary-level placements, Rs. 40,000 for Elementary-level placements, and Rs. 45,000 for High, Higher Secondary, or Matric-Tech placements. These packages apply to STIs continued through a fresh agreement and to STIs newly hired against vacant slots.

These current rates are not taken from the 2024 STI Program document. That document is provided as the original program and hiring reference; the applicable Cabinet-revised salary arrangement remains the relevant basis for current STI pay.

The supplied District-Wise Allocation of STIs table shows 25,000 positions across 36 districts. It divides the total into 6,133 Primary STIs, 6,012 Elementary STIs, and 12,855 Matric-Tech, High, or Higher Secondary STIs.

This STI extension notification does not itself set out a monthly salary package, a performance condition, a district-wise list of currently vacant schools, or the application dates and eligibility criteria for the new hiring process. Current salary follows the later Cabinet-revised arrangement; other details should be taken only from the applicable official agreement, vacancy notice, or departmental instructions.
