How to choose the right guide

Our guides are grouped into four topics:

  • FBR tax guides — filing your income tax return in IRIS, registering for an NTN, understanding salary tax slabs for 2026-27, and answering IRIS questions such as tax residency.
  • Pension & gratuity guides — how pension is calculated for Federal, Punjab and KPK employees, the Punjab Defined Contribution Pension Scheme, retirement age, voluntary retirement, the pension documents checklist and NADRA proof-of-life verification.
  • Pay & allowances guides — pay fixation on promotion, the revised basic pay scales 2026, annual increments, TA/DA, leave encashment and LPR, and GP Fund deductions and interest rates.
  • Islamic finance guides — Zakat and Islamic inheritance, with worked examples.

How our guides are written

Each guide is written by Khyrat Hussain from the official notification, rule or Finance Department instruction it explains, and the main sources are linked on the page. Worked examples are checked against the matching HisaabKit calculator, and the "Updated" date changes whenever a rule or rate changes. Where a rule is not yet officially notified, the guide says so instead of guessing.

Read, then calculate

Most guides link to a calculator on the same topic, so you can first understand how a rule works and then work out your own figures.

Guides and Calculators That Work Together

Read the guide to understand the rule, then use the relevant calculator to estimate your own figures.

Official & Trusted Resources

Where appropriate, HisaabKit guides link to relevant official sources such as government departments, the Federal Board of Revenue and provincial authorities. Always check the original notification, law, rule or official source when a financial decision depends on current requirements.
