Punjab Government Pension Documents Checklist 2026: Forms, Requirements & Process

Preparing for retirement from Punjab Government service? Use this practical 2026 pension documents checklist to understand Form B-I, service records, LPC, bank documents and the pension-case process.

Punjab Government pension documents checklist and retirement forms 2026

Retirement paperwork can feel more difficult than the pension calculation itself.

A Punjab Government employee may know the expected retirement date and even have an idea of the monthly pension, but the actual pension case still depends on something much more practical: whether the required documents, service record, pay information and pension forms are complete and correct.

The official Accountant General Punjab checklist includes documents such as the forwarding letter, CNIC, photographs, pay records, retirement order, bank documentation and service records. The exact papers can vary according to the type of pension case and the employee's circumstances.

This guide explains what a retiring Punjab Government employee should prepare, which pension forms are used, how the requirements differ for Gazetted and Non-Gazetted employees, and what commonly causes a pension case to be delayed.

Important: This guide is for practical preparation and general information. Your department, Pension Sanctioning Authority, Accountant General Punjab or relevant District Accounts Office determines the documents required and the pension finally admissible in your individual case.

1.Punjab Pension Documents — Quick Checklist

If you are approaching retirement, start by checking whether your pension file has the following applicable documents:

  • Departmental forwarding letter
  • Retirement order
  • Applicable pension form, normally Form B-I for superannuation/retiring pension
  • Annex-A / applicable supporting statements
  • Valid CNIC copy, duly attested
  • Two passport-size photographs with the required attestation
  • Last computer pay slip / applicable pay record
  • Last Pay Certificate (LPC), where required
  • Updated service verification
  • Updated pay fixation
  • Updated leave account in the service record
  • Original Service Book and attested copy for a Non-Gazetted retiree
  • Posting profile/service statement for a Gazetted government servant
  • Commutation option
  • Bank option form / indemnity bond
  • Proof of pension-contribution deposits where applicable to a deputation case
  • Any additional papers required because of the particular retirement or pension category

This should be treated as a working checklist rather than a universal list for every pension case. Medical retirement, anticipatory pension, compulsory retirement, death-in-service and family-pension cases have additional or different requirements.

1.1.Start With the Correct Pension Form

One of the first questions is not simply, “Do I have all my documents?”

It is:

Am I using the correct pension form for my case?

The official Punjab pension resources identify different forms for different circumstances.

1.1.1.Form B-I — Superannuation or Retiring Pension

For an ordinary superannuation or retiring-pension case, Form B-I is the important starting document.

The official form states that it is for retirement on superannuation or retiring pension and is to be issued by the Appointing Authority 90 days before superannuation/retirement.

The form captures important information including the employee's pay, date of birth, first entry into government service, qualifying service, deputation period where relevant, pending inquiry/recovery status, commutation option and supporting records.

1.1.2.Form B-II — Anticipatory Pension

Form B-II is used where anticipatory pension is warranted.

The supporting documentation remains substantial: the official quick guide lists Annex-A, service records, photographs, CNIC, pay slip, posting profile/service statement where applicable, deputation contribution evidence where relevant, and banking documentation.

1.1.3.Form B-III — Final Pension After Anticipatory Pension

Form B-III applies where anticipatory pension has already been paid and the case is being processed for the subsequent grant of percentage/full pension.

1.1.4.Form B-IV — Compulsory / Invalidation Retirement

The official Punjab pension resources separately provide Form B-IV for compulsory or invalidation retirement cases.

The practical lesson is simple:

Do not download a pension form merely because another retired colleague used it. Match the form to your own retirement/pension category.

1.2.CNIC and Photographs

These may appear to be minor documents, but they are part of the official pension-paper requirements.

The Punjab quick guide requires an attested copy of a valid CNIC and two passport-size photographs, with the specified attestation. AG Punjab's fresh-case checklist also includes an attested CNIC copy and photographs.

Before the file moves forward, check that the personal particulars used throughout the pension papers are consistent with the employee's official record.

A small discrepancy is much easier to address while the employee is still in service than after retirement.

1.3.Retirement Order

Your pension file should contain the applicable retirement order/office order.

AG Punjab's published fresh-case requirements include an attested office order.

The retirement date should also be checked carefully against the employee's date of birth, retirement category and departmental record.

If you are still deciding whether to retire at superannuation or voluntarily, read:

Punjab Government Employee Retirement Planning 2026

For employees specifically considering voluntary retirement:

Voluntary Retirement in Punjab Government 2026

1.4.Last Pay Certificate and Pay Record

Pension processing depends not only on service but also on correctly documented pay.

AG Punjab's fresh-case list includes the Last Pay Certificate (LPC) in original and applicable last computer pay-slip documentation. The Punjab preparation guide likewise requires an attested last computer pay slip issued by AG Punjab/DAO for the relevant cases.

Do not treat these papers as an afterthought.

Before retirement, it is sensible to review your pay record for unresolved fixation or service issues that could later affect the pension case.

1.5.Service Book — Especially Important for Non-Gazetted Employees

For a Non-Gazetted retiree, the Service Book is one of the most important records in the pension file.

The official Punjab preparation guide requires the original Service Book along with its attested photocopy for a Non-Gazetted retiree and says that it should be complete in all respects.

That includes:

Up-to-date service verification
Your recorded service needs to be properly verified.

Pay fixation
Applicable pay fixation should be up to date.

Leave account
The leave account should also be updated.

This is why simply possessing a Service Book is not enough.

The better question is:

Is my Service Book complete and updated for pension processing?

AG Punjab also identifies consolidation of service records as one of the factors that can hinder timely finalization of pension cases.

That makes checking the Service Book well before retirement particularly important.

1.6.Gazetted and Non-Gazetted Employees — Don't Prepare the Same File Blindly

This distinction deserves special attention.

The official preparation guide distinguishes the service documentation required for the two categories.

1.6.1.Non-Gazetted retiree

The guide calls for the original Service Book along with an attested photocopy, complete with the relevant service verification, pay fixation and leave account.

1.6.2.Gazetted government servant

For a Gazetted government servant, the guide specifies a posting profile/service statement.

Therefore, an employee should not copy another person's pension-file checklist without checking whether that person's service category and circumstances are actually the same.

1.7.Service Verification Should Not Be Left Until the Last Moment

A long government career can contain transfers, promotions, postings, leave periods, pay revisions and other entries.

If part of that history has not been properly verified, pension processing can become more difficult.

AG Punjab's FAQ specifically lists consolidation of service records among the hurdles to timely pension finalization. It separately states a processing time of five days for a service-verification case, although that should not be interpreted as a guarantee for every individual situation.

The practical approach is to review service verification before the pension file reaches its final stage, rather than discovering missing verification after retirement.

1.8.Pay Fixation and Leave Account

The Punjab preparation guide specifically connects a complete Non-Gazetted Service Book with up-to-date:

service verification, pay fixation and leave account.

This gives an employee three separate things to check.

Do not assume that because the latest salary is being paid correctly, every historical entry needed for pension processing is automatically complete.

If you find an unexplained gap, missing fixation or service-record discrepancy, raise it through the appropriate departmental/accounts channel before retirement where possible.

1.9.Commutation Option

Form B-I also deals with the employee's pension/commutation option.

This is financially important because commutation affects the relationship between the monthly pension and the lump-sum retirement benefit.

Before completing the option, it helps to understand the approximate financial effect rather than signing pension papers without seeing the numbers.

You can use the HisaabKit calculator for a planning estimate:

Punjab Pension Calculator 2026

The calculator estimates qualifying service, average basic pay, gross and net pension, medical allowance, commutation and gratuity from the information entered. The result remains a planning estimate; the department and Accountant General Punjab determine the official pension from the employee's record.

For an explanation of the calculation using practical examples:

How to Calculate Punjab Pension in 2026: 4 Teacher Examples

1.10.Bank Option Form and Indemnity Bond

Punjab's official pension resources include the Option Form for Direct Credit of Pension through Bank Account and an Indemnity Bond, while AG Punjab also lists bank option/indemnity documentation among pension-case requirements.

Do not wait until the rest of the pension file is ready before discovering that the banking documents still need completion.

Check the prescribed format and make sure the information matches the account through which pension is to be received.

Official AG Punjab pension forms and downloads

1.11.Family Information and Annex-A

Pension paperwork is not limited to pay and service.

The official pension resources include Annex-A and supporting pension papers covering information that may include family details, undertakings and other required declarations.

This information deserves care.

Names and other particulars should be entered from reliable official records rather than from memory where documentary confirmation is available.

This can become especially important later where family-pension rights need to be established.

1.12.Have You Served on Deputation?

Employees who have spent part of their career on deputation should pay particular attention to this point.

The official Punjab preparation guide states that where an official/officer has been on deputation, evidence of the deposit of pension contributions should be attached in the form of verified credit challans.

This will not apply to every retiree, so it should not clutter an ordinary employee's file unnecessarily.

But if it applies to you, do not discover the missing record at the end of the process.

2.When Should You Start Preparing Your Pension Case?

A pension file should not begin on the last working day.

Form B-I itself says that it is to be issued by the Appointing Authority 90 days before superannuation/retirement.

More broadly, good retirement preparation starts earlier because service verification, pay fixation or missing historical records may require time to resolve.

A practical sequence is:

Around one year before retirement: review the retirement date, service history and major record issues.

Around six months before retirement: check the Service Book/service statement, service verification, pay fixation, leave record, CNIC particulars and expected pension documents.

Around 90 days before retirement: ensure that the applicable pension form and formal retirement/pension paperwork are moving through the competent authority.

Before the final submission: check the file against the current official requirements rather than relying solely on an old checklist.

For the wider retirement timeline, including financial preparation rather than documents alone, use the dedicated:

Punjab Government Employee Retirement Planning Guide

3.What Happens After Your Pension Case Is Submitted?

AG Punjab operates a Pension Facilitation Center (Level-I) as a one-window facility for guidance, grievance redressal and initial scrutiny.

According to AG Punjab, the center conducts preliminary scrutiny, checks the completeness of requisite documents and then submits the case to the concerned section for further processing. A Level-II facilitation mechanism also exists to help expedite processing.

AG Punjab Pension Facilitation Desk

This explains why document preparation matters so much.

A pension case does not become complete merely because a folder has reached the accounts office. The documents themselves need to satisfy the applicable requirements.

4.How Long Does a Complete Pension Case Take?

AG Punjab's FAQ states that seven days are required for finalization of a pension case, subject to the pension case being complete in all respects.

That qualification matters.

It should not be interpreted as a promise that every retiree will receive a finalized pension case exactly seven days after submitting any set of documents.

The same AG Punjab FAQ identifies several obstacles to timely finalization, including delayed submission by executive departments and consolidation of service records. Family-pension cases can involve additional issues such as death documentation, information about heirs and family disputes.

The useful lesson for an employee approaching retirement is:

Do as much record-checking as possible before the file reaches the final processing stage.

5.What If Final Pension Cannot Be Determined in Time?

Punjab's pension system also provides for anticipatory pension.

The official pension resources provide Form B-II specifically for anticipatory pension and Form B-III for final pension where anticipatory pension has already been paid.

This is different from an ordinary Form B-I case and should not be treated as the default route.

If anticipatory pension becomes relevant to your case, use the prescribed form and follow the instructions of your department and pension sanctioning/accounts authorities.

6.A Practical Example: A Punjab Government Teacher Preparing for Retirement

Suppose Muhammad Imran is a Punjab Government school teacher approaching superannuation.

Instead of waiting until his final month of service, he starts reviewing his pension file several months earlier.

He checks his date of birth and retirement order against his service record. He makes sure his service history is complete, reviews his pay fixation, confirms that the required service documentation is updated, obtains the applicable pension papers and checks his CNIC and banking details.

He then uses the:

Punjab Pension Calculator

to get an estimate of the pension, commutation and gratuity for planning purposes.

He does not print that estimate and treat it as a PPO.

Instead, he uses it to understand his likely retirement finances while his official pension case continues through his department and the relevant pension authorities.

That is the distinction HisaabKit wants employees to understand:

Calculate for planning. Prepare documents for processing. Rely on the competent authority for sanction.

7.Before You Submit: Final Pension File Check

Before the file leaves your department, ask yourself:

Is the retirement order correct?
Is the correct pension form being used?
Is my CNIC valid and properly attested?
Are the required photographs attached correctly?
Is my pay record complete?
Is service verification up to date?
Is pay fixation complete?
Is the leave account updated where applicable?
Is my Service Book complete if I am Non-Gazetted?
Is my posting profile/service statement complete if I am Gazetted?
Have I completed the commutation option?
Are the prescribed bank documents complete?
If I served on deputation, is the required pension-contribution evidence available?
Have I checked the latest requirements with my department/accounts office?

A five-minute review of this list can expose an omission that would otherwise be discovered much later.

8.Official Punjab Pension Forms & Resources

9.After Retirement: Remember the Life Certificate Requirement

Document responsibilities do not necessarily end when the pension starts.

AG Punjab states that pensioners receiving pension through the Direct Credit System are required to provide a Life Certificate every six months, in March and September.

The official forms portal provides the Life Certificate form.

This is worth adding to a retirement diary so that an important post-retirement requirement is not forgotten.

10.Prepare the File — and Know the Numbers

A pension case is not just a calculation.

For a Punjab Government employee approaching retirement, there are two jobs to complete:

First, understand your expected retirement finances.

Use the:

Punjab Pension Calculator 2026

and, if you want to understand the calculation step by step:

How to Calculate Punjab Pension in 2026

Second, prepare the official pension case properly.

Check your service record, pay fixation, applicable pension form, CNIC, retirement order, banking documents and other required papers while there is still time to correct omissions.

If retirement itself is still some distance away, start with:

And if you are considering leaving service before superannuation:

A well-prepared pension file cannot guarantee that every case will be completed without a query, but it can eliminate many avoidable omissions before the case reaches its final processing stage.
